The Spanish Peaks Harp Retreat is seeking donations to enable the harp program in Gardner School to continue, including maintenance of the donated harps, and to enable the Retreat needs to be met.

Spanish Peaks Harp Retreat

  • We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization run entirely by volunteers. Now in its 18th year, the Spanish Peaks Harp Retreat is a small intimate gathering in Southern Colorado that meets the last full weekend of every September (Covid allowing). The retreat brings in world-class harp instructors and attracts participants from the Southwest region and beyond to spend 3-5 days in Walsenburg, partaking of the city’s lodging and other amenities. We are an educationally based retreat, bringing in teachers our harpers might not otherwise be able to access in person. We have a scholarship program to help adult harpers attend our retreat, and we have a “Harps for Huerfano” program in one of the local schools (Gardner) where the school’s new music teacher, James Kendall, uses donated harps to introduce this instrument to elementary schoolchildren. The 2023 Retreat runs September 21 through September 24.
