The Spanish Peaks Business Alliance hosted 2021 Annual Membership Meeting


The Spanish Peaks Business Alliance hosted their 2021 annual membership meeting September 29th at Second St Bar & Grill. Over 20 businesses and nonprofits were in attendance. Members and community members heard the work the Alliance has done this year including the largest Holiday Giving Celebration to date, 13 ribbon cuttings with the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, a job fair, and 48 business and nonprofit spotlights. The Alliance also served as a co-convener of the Region 14 Sector Partnership with Huerfano County Economic Development. The Sector Partnership has held 4 community meetings, the Fridays in Huerfano program, multiple placemaking projects, a Civic Leadership Course, and a Retail Ecosystem study. The Partnership is now offering scholarships to anyone who worked or currently works in the retail and hospitality sector seeking a degree or certificate. Current Board members are term limited at two years and all positions were open for election. Melissa Miller of Homes R Us Colorado was nominated for the position of Secretary-Treasurer. Heather Curtis of H’s Place Gallery and More was nominated for Programming Director. There were no nominations for President or Vice President, nominations can be emailed to spanishpeaksba@gmail.com until December 1st when the official vote will be held. Members voted on procedural updates to the By-Laws, the updated bylaws can be found on our website spba.huerfano.org.


The Business Alliance is excited to host even more ribbon cuttings, film spotlights, and continue to educate, network, and advocate for businesses of the Spanish Peaks region in 2022.
